I am in my bed in my room. Three windows on the long wall where my feet are
facing and one large window on the adjacent wall to my right are heavily
curtained. A light flickers across the curtains from one window to the next. Is someone outside with a flashlight?
I stand and turn toward the window on the adjacent wall to take a look.
As I approach the window, the
curtains part, and a most incredible night sky is revealed: thousands of bright
stars, a low hanging full moon that takes up most of the window, and a few
wisps of lit-up clouds. It is utterly breathtaking.
Something in the corner of the
room catches my attention – a tall, circular birdcage sits on the floor, filled
with budgies. The main mating pair are blue and green in colour, like
those I cared for in my younger years. They have perhaps 20 babies –
well, more like "teens" – iridescent blue-green, quite beautiful.
The bottom of the cage is filled
with over a foot of sawdust. On the surface of the sawdust lays two
babies who are dead. A few other birds are pecking at the carcasses. Yet
other birds have sunk into the sawdust and are suffocating. A young cat,
in the bottom of the cage, attempts to chase after the birds in a swimming-like
motion.
The bath and food-dishes are
filled with empty husks of the many millet seeds already eaten. I open
the trap doors at the bottom of the cage, reach in through the sawdust and
remove the cat, who immediately becomes docile. I then rescue the
suffocating birds.
In the dark corner of the room,
nearby the cage, my eldest son (who appears as though he is 13 years old,
though he is 22 years in real-time) is watching the whole scene unfold.
His knees are tucked up to his chest with his arms wrapped around his legs and
his chin resting on his knees.
I turn my attention back to my hands
– I am holding a food dish filled with little black seeds and a husk that has
"scoops" as cavities, also filled with black seeds. The outer
husk is midnight black and very spiky. The seeds are also midnight black.
I awaken.
April 7th, 2012
The intensity of the dream has not left me, though weeks have now passed.
It took some time to realise the dream as a clear set of instructions from the Mother.
Protect
Decongest
Hydrate
Nourish
Next steps to take in order to receive the medicine-teachings.
The seeds... I search and search. I ask herbalist friends and co-workers. No one recognizes the seeds. Perhaps the husk? Finally, I find an image on the internet that is a replicate of what I saw in dreamtime. Datura.
Mother-Teacher has brought me to Datura. Is she to be my second teacher? Moon flower, night blooming, visionary... Yes, the images in the dream now make sense.
