I have walked to the Prayer-Tie Tree. I am offering prayer ties for my husband, and for myself.
I offer prayer in my heart: May we enter our medicine powerfully, fully, with integrity...
As I bind the ties to branches on the tree, I hear Tree speak.
Enter the inner heart - where he can/ you can let go of the old and also birth the new.
Prayer-Tie Tree has huge dead-fall on the outside of the tree, and in the inner centre of the tree, protected by all of the fallen branches, a small "baby" fir tree is growing.
Tree whispered, Enter your husband's inner heart, get closer, be loving/ accepting. Empower his medicine walk.
I ask, "What do I need to know for my own work?"
Tree replied, Birth a new medicine tradition in your heart. This is your work -- what you are doing now -- prayer, receiving the teachings of the trees and land...
I felt the aliveness of new growth, and did not question the directive. Rather, I asked, "How, in what way?"
Tree said, Continue doing your work, this work...
I thanked Prayer-Tie Tree and walked to Prayer-Tree -- the one with up-stretched arms in the gesture of worship. I remembered and felt my heart open -- I do love these trees here in this little field-valley below our yurt. As I connected with Prayer Tree, I asked, "What can I do to serve the land?"
She said, Let the land claim you. Do your prayer work, make offerings, walk the land often, love the land, learn from the land... Walk the whole land [115 acres] and leave offerings and be claimed by the land.
I reiterated my question, "How do I best support my husband in his healing work?" and again it was given: Get closer, enter his inner heart, walk past (love past/beyond) his barriers -- as you do this he will be called to a different place is his healing, and in his loving.
This night, dear Ma, was the last night he ever drank, ending 10 years of alcoholism... I am ever thankful for the medicine of prayer, and love.

I am handed the skin of an elephant. It is weighty, and I must prepare, cut and de-flesh it.
I begin my work, aware that I must give some of the skin and flesh back. I keep a large portion, but did not feel fully entitled or worthy. I return the head and the tail.
As I hand the head and tail over to the one who gifted them to me, he asks if I am sure I want to give all this back? I take a few hairs/ whiskers from the head, and then say "Yes."
He takes the tail, and I realize that I had wanted it for a medicine tool. He then says that another woman will use the rest. In that moment, I fully realize I have been stuck in "do-gooder" because I had really wanted the trunk for making medicine bags.
I awaken...
And as I awaken, the lesson of the dream becomes clear. I must not play-it-small or be so self-sacrificing, especially when it comes to medicine. I must stand in my power and know what I am entitled to.

I have decided to go on a Medicine Walk, as I have been directed. I immediately set off toward the old campsite where we lived in a tent for 5 1/2 months while we built the platform for our yurt, and while my husband also recovered from a concussion. I want to visit the Old One -- a large, old honeysuckle vine... Ma.
When I get to the turn-off to the path leading to the forest that will take me to Old One, I see an Amanita mushroom. This is a Panther Amanita. I approach and ask, then am granted permission to pick it. I offer gratitude for this powerful ally.
I could not remember the exact pathway. When I arrived at what I thought was the spot, I found an emanation -- not of Her, but of another old one. I made offerings of sage, introduced myself, and asked for guidance regarding staying on the land.
Ma said, Find someone who wants to save the land, who would feel good and appreciate saving this piece of land. Until then, pray, and let the land claim you. Do your work!
I thanked her, walked a bit further ahead and found the Old One. My heart was so happy! She is so beautiful!! I got out my shell for a proper smudge offering, which I placed balanced on the horizontal section of her twisted vine.
Crouch to speak to me, she said.
I crouch down and hold onto her base with my hand.
Do your work, child. And then, as if reading my mind, You are not taking anything away from your husband or family, but in fact addint to it/ him by re-enforcing your place on the land. The more you do this, the more the land will own you and those who do not belong will leave. Now, look around you...
I looked down at the ground and saw a little skull -- likely rabbit. I look a little further and see another Amanita, perhaps twice as large as the first.
Ma spoke, Pick it, dry it, and then powder it. Then sprinkle the powder around the perimeter of gardens and yurt, as well as strategic locations on the land. And then, you must make prayer bundles with herbs and feathers and tie these a at different locations. The bundles will act as the light that protects through love and prayer by attracting what is good and needed. The Amanita is like Datura -- the Dark Mother -- protection, but more forceful or defending in nature... Both are needed.
Now, do your work and visit me for more teachings. Hear me! Do your work!!
It is good for you to walk all the land, but even if you get to know a few places well, as you have been doing (Prayer Trees, Graveyard, Old One, Council Circle where I sit with clients and apprentices, the camping knoll) then you will be known and claimed by the whole of the land.
As I walked the rest of the walk home, I found dead and dry Honeysuckle to use in a Prayer Fire, and also the carcass of a deer, which I retrieved a dried hoof and a 2 prong antler from.
Such gratitude for prayer medicine...
