Through the branches of the trees at the Sacred Grove, the air is misty, the sky cloudy, and all is quiet. Perhaps, finally, it might rain? Approaching the small granite altar, I lay offerings in greeting to all emanations of Ma.
Yesterday, listening to the radio, a biologist spoke about changes to the structure of local ecosystems – that some of the signs they were anticipating seeing in the coming 100 years are already happening. The scientists predict that the coniferous trees, particularly the Western Cedars, will begin to die. My heart is very heavy and sad with this thought. While I know that shifts and changes in ecosystems are natural, the rate of change is not so natural. Though this too is under debate, it seems that the majority of scientists agree – the rate of change is unexpectedly rapid – beyond the models of prediction.
“Ma, I long to deepen my relationship to you through my path as Mol'farka's apprentice. There is so much healing that is needed in this world. I feel helpless, even despair, at times, and yet I know this relationship between us is important – is part of what I can offer toward healing and reparation.” My heart feels squeezed with sadness.
After a few moments, Guardian Ma speaks out. "You must clear your outer life first in order to make space for the inner changes. Do what you need to make more spacious time. Get sleep. Put your life in order. Prioritize. Know why you are doing each step, each action, and do it well – with integrity and intention. Trust your instincts and follow them through. Think about what you need. There are different kinds of survival – different paths."
Images arise relating to various ways of living – some more connected to a monetary system, and some less connected to one.
"Decide what you need. Times will be changing, systems will be changing – make sure you are prepared. Make sure you have what you need." She offers more images – not of "things" I might need, but of resources, knowledge, skills, and means.
"You are here (with many others) to usher in this transition and change. You are between worlds. That's what a Mol'farka does – walks between worlds, bridging them. This is your job.
Ground yourself with what you already have – it is your foundation in the monetary world and will serve to support you in that way. It is also your path and means for living in the shifting natural world. Additionally, you must grow your knowledge – it is your priority." Images of the property I am dreaming about, which will require skills, knowledge, time and energy to manifest, pass through the window of my mind.
I think about how reliant I am on "stuff" that I buy – even to make fire, I rely on matches.
"Is there anything else, Ma?"
"Just get your outer life in order," she says. "The next steps will become clear."
